Dr. Ski (Ski Guru and founder member of PIS*)

Dear Skiers

The past months have been spent away from my, ever popular, website ASK DR SKI as I have, in truth, been devoting all my available resources to the launch of PIS the Psychoanalytical Institute of Skiing*.

I have tried to apply the very same principles as that other pioneer of skiing, Hannes Schneider when setting up this ‘ground breaking’ institution. The Arlberg Technique enabled the great man to wipe the slate clean and accept no other influences or techniques, he like Frank Sinatra and many a drunk on the Karaoke was able to say ’I did it my way’. I am sure that other schools of thought are already feeling the tremors of the potential earthquake this is going to cause in the traditional halls of skiing, however one must accept a few casualties along the way in the name of progress.

I am sure it will come as no surprise to my many fans that now that the Institute is firmly established I will be publishing the results of my extensive research into the Fundamental Understanding and Collective Utilisation of Psychology in Skiing, perhaps better known as FUCUPS, but all this in good time.

Initially I will be ‘drip feeding’ certain skiing acolytes with various background information under the following titles:

Hannes Schneider, a brief history of the great man and his influence on my first PIS.

The Österreicherschilehrerverband, an unbelievably long word and an incredible story.

Helping the Girls to get it.

Where do we go from here, a cry for help from the Intermediate Plateau?

Finally let me assure you that, together with my technical support team, we are currently checking all the latest legislation relating to the teaching of psychological techniques to budding skiers, after all we wouldn’t want to fall foul of the authorities would we?

Mit Freundlichen Grussen

Doctor Ski
